A Shaker Under the Influence was installed at the Brooklyn Central Library Gallery. Under pressure from the demands of his craft and lifestyle a Shaker woodworker breaks down and deserts his shop. Woodworking, celibacy, and isolation all contribute to his decline. He abandons his traditional work and fastens hundreds of Shaker pegs to the ceiling and repeatedly cuts out assorted snake forms that he scatters and stacks on the floor. He finally escapes out the back window into a corn field, leaving his saw in mid cut.
